I carry the titles of woman, wife, mother. Also: athlete, volunteer, deacon, nature lover, and culture enthusiast. Now I will finally stake a claim to artist. Through these roles I explore perceptions of beauty, aging, motherhood, femininity, nature, faith, fashion, and vanity.
My art is bold, messy and fun. I work in acrylics, but that is just the starting point. From there I use inks & pencils and incorporate paper & photographic collage. You'll find anything from vibrant patterns out of fashion magazines to hand-sketched female faces to supplications. While my photography focuses on the beauty of distortion, using myself as the subject matter.
“Life really does begin at forty. Up until then, you are just doing research.” A Carl Jung quote that I will embrace. I've been an observer. A hide-away creator. And while providing personal satisfaction, it is time to expose myself.
